A drawing a day project

Day 1

Life always seems to get in the way of me drawing, but this year I am setting myself the challenge to do at least one drawing each day for the next 365 days. No more excuses.

From quick doodles to final pieces, I have to push myself to make time for my art everyday. I miss keeping a sketchbook and don't know when or why I stopped doodling, but this is the year for it to begin again. 2015 shall be a year full of doodles, experiments and inspiration and I can't wait to get started.

Here's the first painting of the year using my new graphics tablet.

Last Term

These are some illustrations from last term. I used graphite for this piece, drawing the portrait and frame separately and then adding them together on Photoshop.
For this one I used fine liner. I was definitely a bit scared of using colour which is pretty evident, so this term I'm going to really push that. I was inspired by fashion and love drawing women (sorry men, but they are prettier). Maybe I'll practice drawing men too as my challenge.

The next project I'm working on is for our yearly quotes book that the university produces to showcase the third years' work to businesses and possibly future clients. Yay! The image I produce needs to represent me as an illustrator and show off what I can do so this is a pretty big deal. Eek.

I'll post some of my ideas and thumbnail drawings, as this project progresses.

Hello internet!

Why is the first blog post so hard? I've wanted to write a blog for years now but never knew how to start it or who on earth would actually read it. But then I thought- I read this kind of stuff online all the time, spending hours trawling through other people's blogs for inspiration for my own work.

This is my little place on the internet where I can share my experiences as a student and freelance illustrator. I think having this will push me to generate work faster so I have something to share, I will have a new responsibility to my millions of dedicated followers who of course can't wait to see my latest illustration! Oh dear.

Anyway, here goes (even if I am the only person reading this)
